A white buffalo is an American bison possessing white fur, and is considered sacred or spiritually significant in several Native American religions; therefore, such buffalo are often visited for prayer and other religious rituals. Buffalo can be white for a number of reason: they can be albino, in which case the buffalo would have pink eyes, the buffalo may be leucistic, causing the buffalo to have blue eyes, or the buffalo may be crossed with cattle and inherit traits from it’s cattle parent. When Caroline asked for a white buffalo, she specified that she wanted the buffalo to look more realistic, so we chose to do the buffalo in shades of light browns, golds and grays. I had a really fun time doing this tattoo, and would love to do more like this!
