Lady Justice, an allegorical personification of the moral forces of the judicial system, dates back to the Goddess Isis in Ancient Egypt, and later the Greek Goddess Themis and the Roman Goddess Lustitia. The blindfold represents objectivity, that justice should be carried out regardless of class, race, gender, money, power or identity. She is depicted holding scales to represent the strength of the case’s support and opposition. Lady Justice is often also represented holding a sword, to represent punishment. Justin got this Lady Justice tattoo to mirror a depiction of the Virgin Mary we did on his other forearm. We plan to add a sword and books to the back of his forearm to complete this sleeve. Justin is one of my favorite clients to work with, he always has great ideas and comes to his appointments with an open mind and allows me a lot of creative freedom. Can’t wait til the next session, thanks again Justin!
