The gorilla, largest of all primates, inhabits the forests of central Africa.
The DNA of the gorilla is highly similar to that of a human, and are considered to be the closest relatives to humans next to chimpanzees.
The name gorilla comes from the greek word “Gorillai” meaning tribe of hairy women. The gorilla is a highly intelligent creature, they can laugh, grieve, have “rich emotional lives”, develop strong family bonds, make and use tools, and think about the past and future. Several gorillas in captivity have even learned to use sign language. They also make for awesome tattoos. -Jason Walstrom
